Rotated pedal boneDermot's remedial work extends to dealing with some very drastic problems. PadIllustrated here is a foot with a rotated pedal bone that has actually dropped through the sole.

Dermot constructed a special pad screwed to a urithane rim (removable for cleaning)

This horse is now healed and jumping.

Standing pain free Left you can see a system Dermot invented, in order to allow the horse to stand pain free.

Barefoot trimming

Secure transport vehicle

Barefoot trimming is NOT merely a shoeless horse. The foot is prepared to return to the state that would be produced in a horse in the wild. Domestication has meant that the horse's hoof is not subjected to the wear and tear that actually maintains the foot in it's natural state. When the foot is prepared to mimic the natural state - the hoof is able to withstand work on almost any terrain. The picture shown here on the left is a good example of hooves ready to withstand long distance work.
